Born on July 29, 1943 in the Village Bour in the district of Darbhanga, in Bihar. BE in Mechanical Engineering from Patna University, and ME in Mechanical Engineering from Calcutta University.
Joined Defense Research and Development Organization in Aeronautical stream and worked for thirty five years in various positions in Aeronautical Establishments in New Delhi, Bangalore and HAL Koraput. Joined Design Team of Light Combat Aircraft in ADA and was made responsible for design of aircraft mechanical system.
Became Program Director TEJAS Light Combat Aircraft, LCA Navy and Director Aeronautical Development Agency, Bangalore, and led the team to expand the flight test envelope to supersonic speed and 11Km altitude and complete the first phase of full scale engineering development of TEJAS.
Superannuated from the service in July 2005. Life time member of Aeronautical Society of India.
Was recipient of the following awards:
1. Aeronautical Society of India Award for Indigenous Development of Aeronautical Stores in 1998 as Scientist G and Project Director General System ADA.
2. DRDO Scientist of the Year Award in 2001 given by the Honorable Prime Minister of India.
3. DRDO Technology Leadership Award (2004) by the Honorable Prime Minister of India.
4. Was chosen for delivering Subroto Mukherjee Memorial Oration in 2004 by the Indian Society of Aerospace Medicine in their Annual Convention held at Institute of Aerospace Medicine, Bangalore.
